10x42 R Tactical

The new 10x42 R Tactical binocular has been developed as a compact roof prism tactical surveillance and operations binocular incorporating the newly developed SUMR targeting reticle system. Using entirely new optical system formulations, new, fully multi-coated optics and a completely new shock and waterproof housing, the 10x binocular delivers a new standard of performance in a tactical  binocular that includes a new Mil Reticle Targeting System  allowing faster and more accurate communications between the spotter/observer and shooter or weapons delivery personnel.

By building Steiner’s universal reticle system into a 10x roof prism binocular, Steiner is able to offer the observer a smaller, rugged and light weight binocular in a power that matches the favored magnification used in many of the newer 10x military rifle scopes used by SWAT, Army, Air Force and Marine SOF Forces. The reticle is based on the standard Mil System and can also be used to effectively accomplish observations, coordinate direct and indirect fire, close air support observations and delivery of PGM munitions.

10x42 R Optics

New interference mirror technology combines traditional silver mirror technology with selected Dielectric Coatings to the Interference Mirrors. This new technology delivers greater light transmission, image contrast and pinpoint resolution than ever before. The optics are designed to offer maximum broad-band light transmission with exceptional clarity and color fidelity. The image contrast is exceptional.

SUMR Reticle

The Steiner SUMR (Steiner Universal Mil Reticle) 10x42 Binocular displays the SUMR reticle on the right view side. Reticle focus can be adjusted via an eyepiece diopter. There is a left side diopter adjustment for image focus also, as well as a 1.5 turn (6.5’ to infinite distance) center focus wheel. The reticle was designed to offer long distance, large target ranging ability with 5 to 10 mil increments on the outer reticle quadrants the reduce down to single mil, half mil and 0.2 mil spacing in the center of the reticle for smaller targets or greater distances. This combination makes the reticle truly universal.

Durable & Comfortable Design

The new ergonomically designed housing and a special rubberized, armor covering that feels great in the hand and helps protect the binocular from the harshest of environmental conditions. The checkered rubber outer finish and recessed thumb pits make the binoculars comfortable to hold on long viewing sessions. The 10x42 R also features impressive eye relief with twist-up eyecups that have fold down side flaps to block side light. The 10x42 R is tripod-ready for 1/4-20 tripod screws at the bottom of the center axis.  Item 772 tripod adapter (optional) is available to fit the 10x42 R to most tripod and window mount types.
